E-yep KIDS BAR: A Helpful Website for English Learners
E-yep KIDS BAR is a website for kids, but I think it may be useful for
English learners as well. Here I focus on its English Songs and English Stories
which I mark on the Figure 1.

Click English Songs or English Stories on
the home page as Figure 1, and the website will show a list of English songs or
stories as Figure 2. You can choose whichever you like to listen or read. But, the
most special is that E-yep KIDS BAR displays an Adobe Flash embedded in a web
page, as Figure 3.

On the web page of English Songs, flash videos display with lyrics
and sounds, so learners can sing together with cute and interesting animation. On
the other hand, learners can also learn more about what kinds of songs western
children grow up with, some of which are translated or rewritten to Chinese as
well. For example, the song did you ever see a Lassie is rewritten in Chinese as
當我們同在一起. While you are singing or viewing, you can also learn some new
words, which you may not look up in the dictionary, because its image shows in
the flash video.
How about the web page of English Stories? Well, it seems to have more
fun, because learners can interact with the animation. Some of the flashes will
ask you to do something. If you don’t know what it means, you will fail. For example,
take a look at Figure 4. The flash asks you to click ALFY’s boots. The story
will not develop if you don’t know what boots mean, which is a good way to
learn English, isn’t it?
